"The golden mean of truth in all things is no longer either known or appreciated. In order to win applause one must write stuff which is so inane that a coachman could sing it, or so unintelligible that it pleases precisely because no sensible man can understand it."

--W. A. Mozart, from a letter to his father, 28 December 1782

Composed by humble self. As performances are recorded they replace the preliminary electronic renditions. You can download MP3 audio files , and also the Finale scores themselves. Download the free Finale software to read these scores here. (If you have problems with scores coming up as gibberish you will need to download the latest Finale software at this link. Many scores I list also in PDF format.) For accuracy sometimes you will need to download and install fonts which will be indicated. When possible I now include videos, which you can also see on  my YouTube channel.

NEW ADDITIONS (2012-3): Elegy for Izabela for string orchestra; new edition (with brand new second movement) of Chamber Concerto for piano and small orchestra; recordings from the Feb. 24 concert (Goldbug Variations, I Dream of Buddha, I'm a Physicist, Der Jammerwock, Ananda Dances); newly revised edition of Art of the Recorder; Mantra Cantata recording, first two minutes included here (email me for more); E Pluribus Unum for two horns and strings.

In 2002, when I was trying to play the violin again after many years, I made two electric violins, one with 6 strings, designed to play in the cello position, with gear to hold up my right arm. I also used a curved bow; you can see this in action in the clickable picture at the Bach Bogen site. I had to stop in the summer of 2003 due to arthritis.

Here's a link to the video on You Tube of a fake commercial for a "Twelve-Tone Masters" compilation originally done by Robert Conrad and Co. in Cleveland in the '70s. Thanks to my dear friend Irene Bozarth for the heads up, and to Eric Pritchard for telling me about the video. Sums up my experience with the hideously ugly new concert music that has been dominant for a few generations now. None of that on THIS page!

Often in New Music, the artist's statement is most of the action--sometimes it is ALL of the action. My "statements" are short and utilitarian, usually pointing out when and where and why I wrote the piece, sometimes for whom, and giving some performance tips. However this is not satisfactory to many in the academic scene. To fill this conceptual void, those feeling the need for more abstruse artist's statements can click on this website, which will generate all the statements required for the new music scene for decades to come.
